The ELEVATE project is an international project that brings together 17 partners from 11 Danube countries and 13 associated partners. Slovenian partners include the Municipality of Sevnica and the Institute for Social Gerontology Amabilis, while the associated partners from Slovenia are the Ministry for a Solidarity-based future and ZRC SAZU.

The main objective of the project is to strengthen cooperation between the public, private, and civil society sectors in order to create more inclusive communities. Particular attention is given to the active involvement of elderly individuals and persons with disabilities in community life, thereby reducing the pressure on social security systems facing challenges such as population ageing, migration, and climate change.
The project will develop solutions for inclusive development through a bottom-up co-creation process with those most affected – under the motto “nothing about us without us.” Older adults and persons with disabilities will be actively involved in shaping solutions that will improve their access to services and enhance their participation in society. At the same time, local businesses will contribute to the development of socially responsible programmes. The solutions will be piloted in 12 territories across the Danube region, including the Heart of Slovenia, where we will upgrade the Points for Eldery in Litija, Lukovica, and Šmartno pri Litiji, in collaboration with the Oreli Institute from Kamnik.
The project brings together various organisations, companies, and individuals from vulnerable groups. Together, we will co-create solutions that benefit the entire community. Through awareness-raising campaigns and public events, we aim to engage the wider public and promote inclusive development.
Through the ELEVATE project, we aim to support Danube region communities in becoming more resilient and better prepared for future challenges. Inclusive and accessible communities will be key for a just transition towards a green and digital economy, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The project will also facilitate the development of sustainable development plans that can be used by local communities in the coming years. In doing so, we aim to achieve long-term, positive change for all residents of the Danube region.
