As part of the INCA (Inclusive Innovation for Collective Alternatives) European project, the Bucharest Open Innovation Lab conducted a survey titled “Rethinking Social Platforms: Co-creating an Ethical Alternative to Facebook in Bucharest.” This initiative is part of a wider effort to explore how we might rethink the role and structure of digital social platforms in a way that boost civic participation in urban discourse and that strengh the communication beween citizens and public adiministartion.
The questionnaire invited participants to reflect on issues such as decision-making processes, data privacy, inclusion, long-term sustainability, content governance, and the ethical foundations that should guide platform development. A total of 59 anonymous responses were collected, offering a rich and diverse picture of what people expect from a fair and community-centered online space.
We’ve now published an infographic that distills some of the most significant insights from the survey. These findings will directly contribute to the forthcoming guidelines, ensuring that they are grounded in real-world input and reflect the priorities of the community.
